Susan goes absolutely still and as pale as snowfall, and Cuthbert lets out a low whistle, studying the two of them. Alain gives Caspian a sharp, searching look. He can't think of a single time when he's seen the other man pick a fight like this. Either he's lost himself under the weight of what he's facing, or there's something the rest of them don't know, and Alain's betting it's the latter.
